Welcome to Brancaster Allotment Society

Allotment 2019 home page1

The Allotment site was leased from a local landowner in January 2010.  It consists of 28 plots, 20 are traditional 10 pole or in modern measurements 250 square metres plots, 8 are half size plots. We recommend anyone who has not had an allotment before, should start with a half size plot. This should provide home grown produce for a modern family.

Each allotment plot holder is a member of the Society, and we elect a committee at the annual general meeting to manage the Allotments on behalf of Brancaster Parish Council.

Membership subscription is £5 per annum, annual plot rent is £55.00 for a full size plot and £27.50 for a half size plot.  We welcome any enquiries about our allotment site; please contact us .

The plots are for permanent residents in the area; one of the aims when we set about starting off the project was to build something that would help sustain our community. We can see that happening up on the plots now; we have allotment holders of a mixture of ages and occupations, all mixing and meeting – people who otherwise may not have met, even in such a small community as ours.

We are very proud of our allotment site – and of our website . By clicking onto one of the headings on the left you will be able to read about our allotments News & Events look at our Photo Diary and even get This Months Tips suggestions for planting, harvesting, pest control, and recipes.  Please look at

Covid 19 Emergency Measures

Use gloves to open the gate, avoid touching the gate with bare hands.

Do not visit this site if you or any member of your household is ill and/or self isolating.

It is essential that no un-authorised people are allowed onto the plots for the duration of this emergency.

Anyone helping on the plot must be from the same household.

We must all consider vulnerable families, friends and fellow plot-holders and give assistance where needed.

Members should take the following precautionary measures :

  1. Keep hand sanitiser in your shed and wash your hands regularly.
  2. Use hand sanitiser before opening and closing any gate locks.
  3. DO NOT gather together for a chat even if you are 2 metres apart.
  4. Observe “Social Distancing” with each other 2-3 metres.
  5. If you take your children to the plot, ensure that they stay within its confines and do not run around on communal paths and spaces.
  6. Do not share tools.
  7. Minimise the contact with each other for example no handshakes.

We are organising a “buddy” scheme – if you are self isolating or ill and would like someone to water plants and keep a general eye on your plot please contact us. We will do our best to help.
